A CONCERT OF REMEMBRANCE
Oldham Band (Lees) were honoured to be asked to perform with Saddleworth Male Voice Choir this year at their annual A Concert of Remembrance on Saturday 11 November 2017. Playing to a full house, the audience were treated to a varied programme, from a beautiful rendition of Arthur Sullivan's The Lost Chord and a wonderful adaptation of the Russian hymn Tiebie Paiom by SMVC, to Elgar's Nimrod from The Enigma Variations and the rousing 633 Squadron by the band. The final section of the night, The Act of Remembrance, proved a fitting tribute with the choir and band coming together to show their respect through such classics as Nightfall in Camp, Abide with Me, and Jerusalem. MD John Collins said: "It was a great privilege for the band to be asked to perform on such a significant occasion, and it was a pleasure to share the stage with such a fine choir. This really was one of the most enjoyable and moving events we have been part of."
